FACTS ABOUT SUICIDE, WAITING PERIODS & SAFE STORAGE
- 420 Vermonters died from firearms between 2011 and 2016, and 89% of those (374 individuals) were suicides.(Source: Taylor Dobbs’s study for VPR)
- 85% of suicide attempts with guns are fatal. Many of the other most widely used suicide attempts are successful in less than 5% of the time. (Source: Harvard School of Public Health study on gun suicides)
